An Intro....

Dear Friends, Well Wishers,

With great pleasure I share with you all that, in pursuance of my father, Late Shri R Srinivasan’s charitable efforts, a new Trust – “Srini Educational & Charitable Trust” is formed under the able guidance and support of my Uncle Shri R Raman and elder brother Shri S Selvan.  Along with me the Trustees in the new Trust are – my wife Smt. Radha Ramanan, longtime employee and family friend Shri. V Shankaran and close friend of my father and well-wisher Dr. JF Suresh. We have now come together for a purpose and our slogan “give, share, love” aptly says it.

The Object of the Trust is to uplift the socio-economic status of the poor/ needy/ uneducated/ downtrodden people in general and particularly in the fields of education, skill development, healthcare, eradication of poverty, improvement of morals and allied Objects.

Initial Scope of the Trust Object is:

  • To provide aid to meritorious, needy and deserving students by covering their tuition fees, hostel & mess fees, book expenses, for their Plus2 or College education.
  • To provide scholarship for bright and enthusiastic students from economically weaker families (families with limited financial support).
  • To provide Career guidance by giving awareness of all the choices (educational courses) and the scope of the choices available to them and to assist them in their college admission.
  • To keep a track of their performance (both academic and non-academic) and to monitor their progress.
  • To counsel them if needed and if some decline in performance is seen – advice/ motivate them to improve performance.

Selection Process:

  • Spread word about educational trust and its scope of objectives though website (blogs), social media, tie-up with a few short listed colleges, word of mouth/ referrals, etc.
  • Receive application – directly from students or through references, short list for deserving students based on academic performance, government school, first generation college goers, etc. Collect application along with copy of marks sheet (class X & XII), school conduct & migration certificate, any sports, appreciation or reference certificate/ letter, parent’s pay slip (letter from employer), photo, ID and address proof.
  • Personal Interview & House visit – short listed students called for personal interview with parent or guardian. All required information/ data are checked and copy of documents submitted verified against originals. Assess the students attitude and willingness to study further, family background, parents education, number of siblings & their education, income of parents/ family, widow, single parent, course preferred, college preferred, total fee amount, etc. If required, House visit is done to assess the information and verify the facts provided during interview.
  • Selection is finalized based on the above socio-economic, academic scoring, course/ college selected, total fee amount, etc.  The selected student is assisted during college admission and payments through cheque/ demand draft made and receipt collected.

Further Scope expansion will aim to cover Skill development and Vocational training to deserving/ needy persons to enable them to enhance their career or job prospects.

Ramanan.

  9. Give to charity some part of what you have. "Let the rich satisfy the poor implorer and bend his eyes upon a longer pathway. Riches come now to one, now to another, and like the wheels of cars are ever rolling. ". Rigveda bk. 10 hymn. 117.
Grand initiative - will pray that you have success all the way.

    Ramanan,
Very happy to see the grand intent. Rightly focused on education.

I'm reminded of the quote "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime".

I pray to Bhagawan for the success of your noble initiative and assure you of my support in every way possible.

The Mahatma once said "The simplest acts of kindness are by far more powerful than a thousand heads bowing in prayer".

    Best Wishes
    Sriram.

  14. Thanks for your comment Sriram.
The initial focus on higher education is aimed to provide an opportunity to deserving students to complete their education and which would make them competent and socially responsible individuals.
