The
inspiration and spiritual guiding force behind
this Trust is Late Shri R. Srinivasan (father of Trustee Shri S. Ramanan).
Shri R. Srinivasan hailing from a needy family was provided free
education and free boarding by Ramakrishna Mission Students Home, Mylapore, Chennai,
from where he passed out with a Diploma in Automobile Engineering - thus
started his desire to ‘aid and support needy students for education’.
From there he joined M/s Enfield India, as an apprentice and raised-up to
the rank of Regional Manager. Further on he became an entrepreneur and a
successful industrialist in the field of auto ancillary industry.
During his career and business year’s he was in close touch with
Ramakrishna Mission Home and was giving donations regularly and also collecting
& remitting donations from others. He has an endowment created at the Home.
In his later years he settled near his native village and started
providing free hostel and free boarding facilities to poor young students sent
from Ramakrishna Mission Home, he had upto 25 students at his hostel all
provided for from his own business income - till his untimely demise in 2010.
In pursuance and to carry forward his charitable efforts, we, the Trustees
have come together and formed this Charitable Trust.
The
Charitable activity under the Trust Object "Aid to Students for
Education" has commenced since May’2016.
During the year 2016 – 17 a sum of Rs 3.07 lacs was dispersed to 13
Students to support their education/ higher education. See statement ‘Details
of Students Aided – 2016-17
For the present financial year 2017 – 18, The Charity activity under the
Trust Object "Aid to Students for Education" had resulted in a
dispersal of a sum of Rs 3.29 lacs to 16 Students to support their education/
higher education. See statement Details of Students Aided – 2017-18.
Donation Collected during this period is Rs 5.45 lacs.
Apart from this a sum of Rs 7.30 lacs has been Collected as Donation
towards Corpus Fund of the Trust.
Of the sixteen students aided in this year, six students are girls. Total
of fourteen students are provided aid for their College education. All the students are meritorious and sincere
in their academic efforts.
Methodology:
The initial aim is to focus aid to three year Degree
College students (both boys & girls) and also to an extent Plus-2 School
students.
The Trust plans to provide financial aid to 25 to 30 Students on an
average yearly, this would require a budget of Rs 7 to 8 lacs per annum.
Financial aid
per student per year shall be limited to Rs 15000 to Rs 30000/-, (depending on
the need and merit, considerations or restrictions shall be made).
Funding:
To maintain the above and to assure financial aid to
the students (this will enable the students to focus and excel in their
academic performance), the Trust should create an assured source of annual
income.
·
The
Trust plans to achieve this by creating a substantial corpus fund.
A
corpus fund of Rs 1.00 crore, collected in a span of three
years and deposited in fixed deposit with bank or invested as stipulated in the
income tax act, will yield an annual income the proceeds of which shall be used
to meet “Aid to Students for Education” and other Charitable Object of the
Trust.
Request
Proposal:
An appeal is made to the all Patrons and Well-wishers
to whole-heartedly come forward and donate towards the Corpus Fund of the
Trust, to help fund and reach the target of Rs 1 crore, thereby enabling the
Trust in
achieving the “Aid to Students for Education” and other Charitable Object of
the Trust.
·
Donations to the Trust are eligible
for exemption under section 80G of Income Tax Act 1961.
